Poems by Makayla
Haikus by Makayla
Cherry Blossoms
scattered on the ground
snow in spring.
Pukekos reflect
the blue sky
summer clouds float
A clown entertains
little kids
playground circus
Newborn babies
cry in the sun
fresh fruit salad.

Haiku
turns into mush
butter lava falls.
Tomato soup
steams with smell
mouth waterfalls.
Native trees
pulled from their roots
transplanted countries.
As the clock ticks
seconds disappear
into the past.
Australian Vampires
waft from golden arches
as humans become spellbound.
Hunger rumbles
inside my stomach
as French Fries
dance in my mind.
Fruit bats swarm
the cabbage trees
beside the drive thru.
The sound of guano
dropping from the branches
awakens me from the trance.
To conquer my fear
I forget about milkshakes
and settle for
bat burgers instead.

Camp
At camp, for dessert, we had creamy ice cream with runny chocolate sauce and chocolate brownies. We also had creamy donuts with soggy and chocolatey sprinkles.
For dinner we had crispy, juicy nachos with crunchy chips and cold sour cream. The next day we had Roast Chicken with creamy mashed potato and hot roast potato. We also had runny gravy and crispy corn.
My first activity was climbing walls. It was so hard that I fell off once. My second activity was Go-Karts. Now that was so fun, I got stuck up a hill once but apart from that it was real fun. Our third activity was archery and air rifles and after that we done orienteering. On rifles I was trying so hard and at the end I shot the target down! Archery was really fun I shot the target but not the red. For Orienteering my group found all them apart from 3.
At bed time it was so fun but the only thing that annoyed me was I couldn't sleep because the next room was banging on the walls.
Camp was so fun I can't wait for next year!

The Rabbit by the River
Down River Bed Place, behind number 25a, is a small river. A little brown rabbit would hop down by the river every morning at 7.30 am. A little girl would look out her window every morning and spot this little rabbit too.
The next morning she saw the little rabbit lying on the grass. She ran outside and picked the little rabbit up .As she ran inside she yelled to her mum. They took it to the vet.
The veterinarian said it had been attacked but it will be alright.
The rabbit was safe
The end.
THE PROBLEM WITH GLAMOUR
One day, a rabbit called Glamour was trying to look for some carrots. She saw her cousin Marigold hopping in the field with a big basketful of carrots.
Glamour went up to her cousin and asked her
“Marigold, can I please have some carrots?” Marigold replied “No.” Glamour was starving and she wanted those carrots. “I declare RABBIT WAR”
Glamour and Marigold were fighting over the carrots for hours and hours.
No one could break up the fight. Not even their mums. Glamour finally gave up. Marigold looked away for one minute and Glamour took the carrots and hopped away. Marigold ended up chasing Glamour for three days and two nights. But Glamour never got found.

The Hunt For A Maid?
"You earned your black belt!"announced Lee. I was so happy, until my alarm went off. Sadly that was all a dream. I woke up in my usual morning routine. I went to brush my teeth, I saw he mirror then I screamed! My hair was an afro puff! Usually my hair would be slick straight. I rushed to find some hair product. I found some gel, moose and some strong hair spray. So I slapped it all on. Finally I looked normal and good looking again. Mum must have heard me rushing about.
"I don't know why you want make-up and fancy products, try and embrace the natural look<" asked Mum.
"Have you seen the way people dress nowadays?" explained Zia.
"Okay, just don't put too much of it on!" exclaimed Mum.
So I put my ugly school uniform on and I looked in the mirror. My eyes were brown, gleaming in the sunlight.
"Now I'm ready! I whispered. I walked out the door and people were all taking pictures, like the paparazzi! I ran down the street and people were coming down in cars, vans, motorbikes
